Last weekend for the USA-Japan Women’s World Cup final game we did a little brunch party at our friend’s house. One of the most essential components to any brunch is, of course, the Bloody Mary. Unfortunately, this is not one of the essential ingredients required for winning a big game. The women gave a good fight and we wish them the best of luck next time.
This mix is a base, without any heat, that we mix with spicy vodka. I like to do it this way so that folks who don’t like the heat can use regular vodka and still get a lovely Bloody Mary. Our favorite spicy vodka is the Hot Monkey by New Deal Distillery. However, if you cannot get your hands on this you can always use your favorite, or the widely available Absolut Peppar. Also, if you are not using spicy vodka, add the heat of your choice, hot sauce (10-20 dashes), jalapeño peppers (1 T diced), etc.
Bloody Mary Mix.
46 oz can tomato juice
2 T lemon juice
3 T prepared horseradish
3 t celery salt
1 t garlic powder
1/4 t pepper
Garnishes of choice: celery, olives, pickled green beans, lime
Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix. Adjust seasonings to fit your taste preferences. Serve with your favorite spicy vodka and garnish as desired.
